RABIES VACCINE RESEARCH

Holistic vets have long known of the dangers of all vaccinations and maybe rabies tops the list.  Now there is hope that our dogs and cats may be saved from the dreadful complications of over vaccinating.

Kris Cristine almost single handedly got the state of Maine to switch from annual vaccination requirements to a 3 year program.  Mexico needs a Kris Cristine!  But she did not stop there.  She continued her campaign by contributing her efforts to those of doctors Jean Dodds of Hemopet in Garden Grove, California and Ronald Schultz at University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in Madison, Wisconsin.

They created the Rabies Challenge Fund which needed $177,000 to fund the first year’s budget.  They now have those funds thanks to their efforts and the amazing support of many dog clubs, veterinarians, and concerned owners.  The study will begin next month!  The vaccine companies and veterinary profession as a whole have done nothing and that is a sad, sad testimonial, indeed.  Clearly the vaccine companies place income above the health of the animals and that is true with ALL vaccines – not just rabies.

Dr. Schultz will be volunteering his time and the University of Wisconsin will donate all the overhead costs for the 5 and 7 year studies.  Let’s hear it for both of them!

“Dr. Schultz has already performed serological studies that documented rabies antibody titer counts at levels known to confer  immunity seven years after vaccination.”  He most assuredly does not anticipate any surprises with this formal study that can leave no doubts to the truth of his findings.

Dr. Dodds lectures regularly about the adverse reactions associated with the rabies vaccine.  Most people think that if the animal shows no reaction in the vet’s office that all is well.  Not so!  Her findings of adverse reactions include autoimmune diseases of the thyroid, joints, blood, eyes, skin, kidney, bowel and central nervous system as well as anaphylactic shock seen in the vet’s office.  There is also evidence connecting rabies vaccinations with aggression, seizures, epilepsy and fibrosarcomas at the injection sites, especially in cats but not limited to them.

As caretakers for our canine and feline companions we must be educated about all the vaccines administered to our pets and stand firmly on an up to date program rather than simply agree to a vet’s very outdated annual vaccination program.  Drs. Dodds and Schultz were instrumental in changing the American Animal Hospital Association’s vaccination protocol so if you have any doubts about what to give and when to give it check out their program at aahanet.org.  Every vet school in the U.S. has changed its stand on vaccinations but sad to say way too many vets choose to live in the dark ages.  They, like the vaccine companies, appear to place money above the health of the animals they have trained to serve.

Rabies vaccinations are mandated by law and Mexico, unfortunately,  is really out of date with an annual requirement but that does not apply to other vaccinations.  Check it out.
